چکیده

Based on the Q-function, the conditional expectation of the logarithm of the jointlikelihood between responses and random effects, we propose a case-deletion approach to identify influential subjects and influential observations in linear mixed models. The models considered here are very broad in the sense that any covariance structures can be specified in the covariance matrices of the random effects and random errors. Analytically explicit forms of diagnostic measures for the fixed effects and variance components are provided. Comparisons with existing methods, including likelihood-based case-deletion and local influence methods, are made. Numerical results, including real data analysis and simulation studies, are presented for both illustration and comparison. This paper has supplementary material online.

Diagnostic measures for linear mixed measurement error models

In this paper, we present case deletion and mean shift outlier models for linear mixed measurement error models using the corrected likelihood of Nakamura (1990). We derive the corrected score test statistic for outliers detection based on mean shift outlier models. Furthermore, several case deletion diagnostics are constructed as a tool for influence diagnostics. It is found that they can be w...

Influence Diagnostics for Correlated Data

Correlated or clustered data are frequently encountered in medical and dental research. Although there has been a large amount of research on analytic methods for clustered data, there has been only a limited amount of work in the area of influence diagnostics for these methods. We present a simple approach to influence diagnostics for clustered data that is practical even for very large data s...

Linear and nonlinear mixed-effects models for censored HIV viral loads using normal/independent distributions.

HIV RNA viral load measures are often subjected to some upper and lower detection limits depending on the quantification assays. Hence, the responses are either left or right censored. Linear (and nonlinear) mixed-effects models (with modifications to accommodate censoring) are routinely used to analyze this type of data and are based on normality assumptions for the random terms. However, thos...

Detection of Outliers and Influential Observations in Linear Ridge Measurement Error Models with Stochastic Linear Restrictions

The aim of this paper is to propose some diagnostic methods in linear ridge measurement error models with stochastic linear restrictions using the corrected likelihood. Based on the bias-corrected estimation of model parameters, diagnostic measures are developed to identify outlying and influential observations. In addition, we derive the corrected score test statistic for outliers detection ba...

On Statistical Models for Regression Diagnostics

In regression diagnostics, the case deletion model (CDM) and the mean shift outlier model (MSOM) are commonly used in practice. In this paper we show that the estimates of CDM and MSOM are equal in a wide class of statistical models, which include LSE, MLE, Bayesian estimate and M-estimate in linear and nonlinear regression models; MLE in generalized linear models and exponential family nonline...
